1st Post to the Outside World

So, I've decided kind of late to try blogging.  This decision is mostly a result of having a lot of time on my hands.  Frankly, I'd like to keep myself occupied and I've been binge watching youtube video blogs which also set me on this blogging kick.  Since I'm super camera shy and awkward, this is the next best thing.  So, here I am and, maybe, I'll just be blogging to myself--I have no idea how to promote these things--but that's okay because, in the end, I'm writing something and that's the most important part.

My goals are to post book reviews, share my writing process and what I'm currently working on, NaNoWriMo updates, and whatever else I can share regarding the book/writing world.  I'm going to try to post to this regularly, but I haven't thought of a specific day(s) that I am going to post.  If I figure that out, I will post it here.

Camp NaNoWriMo is a few days away, 13 days according to the website, and I'm extremely excited for it and the story I have in mind.  The thing I like about Camp is I can set my own goal.  It's a good precursor to the
50k monster that is NaNoWriMo.  My goal is 20k.  I wanted to give myself a challenge without it being too overbearing.  Usually, I'm a pantser, but I am trying to organize myself and create a general outline of major events to help keep me on track.
This is the cover I made for my Camp novel.

This is my 2nd time participating in Camp and I decided to get more involved with other campers this time around.  I have an amazing support group of family and friends who are very enthusiastic and supportive of my writing, but like friends and family are want to do, they are more encouraging than critical.  They don't write, so, I'm missing out on the constructive criticism  I received when I was in college.  Yes, it's amazing for my ego to hear how good it is, but that's never helped anyone grow.  I'm using this opportunity to build a network of writers to get the constructive criticism only other writers can give sometimes.  So, fingers crossed for that.

I'm also excited that my boyfriend signed up for Camp.  He's not a writer, but he's a great artist (of course, I'm bias) and he's recently told me about a character he came up with one night at work for a comic book.  So, he signed up for Camp to flesh out his storyline and will, maybe, create a series of comics from that.

Right now, I am currently reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.  I know.  I'm super late on the TFIOS front.  So, sue me . . . not really.  Hopefully, I will have a review up for you soon for that and possibly a movie review as well.  In the meantime, I'm going to figure out how to use this thing.
